Are you distracted on the roads?
_How
safe are the roads? People say drivers are fine, and that there is not
really any problems. But, there is a huge problem. The problem is the
people. Drivers can’t understand that when driving they have to worry
about others too, not just them. The peoples families and loved ones are
being killed, because of distracted driving. Its not their fault all
the time too. Sometimes a distracted driver kills the person they hit
and they live. It’s terrible that this happens, but it makes sense why
so many crashes happen. For example a new driver just started on the
road and they know texting and driving is wrong, but they do it anyway.
That car has just turned into a missile and the average car is 4000
pounds (HAKIM).
When a driver decides to text or use their cell phone behind the wheel
everyone is put in danger. “If people don't want to make a change to
texting while driving then people will keep getting injured you can't
fix stupid” (Forgey).
The danger keeps on getting worse and worse as more teens start to
drive. There are little fixes drivers can do to make roads safer. Don't be a distracted driver, it's not worth the ticket.
Can't Put Down the Controler?
_There
are many symptoms of video game addiction with many being similar or
the same as substance addiction. Addiction to video games consists of
playing them for extreme amounts of time like 24 hours per week. It also
includes thinking about gaming while not playing, lying about how much
you are playing games, poor grades and less attention during school, and
having withdrawal symptoms when stopping play like restlessness and
irritation (“Addicted”). The main problems experienced by addicts are
things like social awkwardness, family trouble, and health issues like
not eating or bathing. While these are used to diagnose video game
addiction you could have some of these symptoms and not be addicted to
video games.
Media Having a Huge Impact on Teens
__Media
targets us every day with images and messages. The media influences our
behavior which could have a mild effect on us or a very extreme effect
on us. The media that is put out there uses common ground for us as
Americans. The media tries to relate exactly to you and into your life.
This can make it easy for them to shape our behavior and attitudes
around media (Johnston).
All races can be affected by the media, not just one race alone. Some
of the most powerful media advertising comes from the cosmetic and
fashion industry. Almost 1,500 advertisements are coming across
Americans everyday (Johnston). Many of these advertisements do not only
target young women either. They are not only going for the young teens
but the older women as well. The media can think that you are aging
faster than fruit, which could then influence your attitude which is to
look down on yourself and want to look younger. Therefore, the media
attracts you to products like anti-aging cream which could “make you
look younger”. Really the media is using the latest technology to
convince many to buy their product because it will have this affect on
you, when really it could be doing nothing at all. By researching
theories more important things like explaining the Internet dependency
are cognitive and affective involvement is the difference between the
relationship between the motivation and Internet dependency Scientist
are looking into the different methods and theories to how this process
of advertising is effecting the mind and body of people. Is
everything that is put out into the media true? Not usually. They lie,
and twist words. It’s all fake. Even the photos are fake. Many models
and actresses still don't look good enough for the industry. A lot of
their imagery is photoshopped to make them look better. They are not
good enough for the media. The media wants these perfect models that
have no imperfections when really everyone has them, so why don’t they
embrace it? They want people to buy their products so they make people
believe that these women and men actually look this good and their
product did it to them. When really, it’s all fake.
